About Landon Winery | Award-Winning Texas Wines Since 2005
Landon Winery is an award-winning Texas winery founded by Bob Landon in 2005, beginning with its first tasting room in Historic Downtown McKinney. Its roots run deeper still: Bob’s winemaking started in 1989 in the basement of his Kansas City home, and over the years that passion grew into one of Texas’s most recognized wineries — earning Bob a reputation as “Mr. Wine of Texas.”
From the beginning, Bob’s vision was specific: pair distinctive, beautifully made wines with a warm, well-trained staff of wine educators in a comfortable setting, creating an exceptional tasting experience from start to finish. That vision still guides Landon today.
Landon Winery has earned hundreds of medals and awards at regional and national competitions. Among its most notable honors, the 2019 Tempranillo Reserve from the Texas High Plains was named Best Tempranillo and won Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco International Wine Competition — a standout achievement for Texas winemaking.
Today, Landon Winery operates seven tasting rooms across the DFW metroplex and North Texas — in McKinney, Grapevine, Wylie, Coppell, Denison, Gainesville, and Greenville — along with a sister winery, Red Dirt Cellars, in Grapevine, with its production based at the Greenville winery.
Landon is more than a winery. In 2025, the company expanded with the opening of Landon Brewery and Landon Distillery, bringing craft beer and house-made spirits under the same roof as its award-winning wines. The brewery pours a rotating selection of popular, approachable beer styles, while the distillery produces a full range of spirits — including vodka, bourbon, rye bourbon, rum, and agave spirit. The expansion grew from a simple goal: making Landon a place where everyone feels welcome, including guests who’d rather enjoy a beer or a cocktail than a glass of wine. It also lets Landon experiment in ways a winery alone can’t, such as aging wines in the distillery’s own bourbon barrels. Wine, beer, and cocktails are all available across Landon’s seven tasting rooms.
Behind every bottle is a simple standard Bob has held from day one: never put a flaw in the bottle. Landon’s winemaking is led by Head Winemaker Jason Dodson, who has guided the program for 15 years, while the tasting room experience is led by Kim DeFoe. Together with Bob Landon, they continue to refine the wine, the visitor experience, and everything around it — vintage after vintage.
